Pardon me for writing in English as no time for me to search and type one alphabet by one in my urrent gloomy mood.

I do not regularly read The Hindu as I know its stand regarding the Sri Lankan ethnic issue. I do not gain anything new from The Hindu except repeating statements in the name of news, views and skews. The Hindu is the Snowwhite's stepmother's mirror image of any "LTTE is always right" website. "Mirror, mirror upon the wall, Who is the fairest of all?"

However, when one of my old friend in Australia, who in spite of Tamil continously mulls the idea that self-determination of Tamils is the root the evil and the cause for the current pathetic situation forwarded me this The Hindu editorial to reaffirm his stand, I was speechless.

Reading it made me furious, and surfed the The Hindu archives of this month looking for its reporting on Sri lankan ethnic issues only to get more furious.

While the editorial of The Hindu (remind you that the editor of The Hindu is a recent graduate of Lanka Ratna Academy) goes on driving in what it usually pretends as 'neutral gear mood' as, "If the terrorists think they can have their way by forcing a war on the Sri Lankan state, they should know they cannot win. For the Sri Lankan Government, which enjoys unprecedented international goodwill, the only option is to work towards marginalising the LTTE," it did not utter a single word on what happened in Vankalai. As an already-opinionated reader, I am less care of what The Hindu says and what it offers to its readers. Yet I could not resist myself thinking, "What the hell is The Hindu thinking of its faithful readers, who blindfoldly think and defned The Hindu for every syllable it utters!" Is it possible that Mr. Ombudsman of The Hindu will listen if people - of course, not like myself, but the bandwagon of faithful 'Letters to the Editor' old gentlemen- raise the question about its shady news and skewed views on Sri Lankan issues?

I wish if The Hindu read - at least, secretly- its own column writer cum parttime LTTE media slayer Mr. D. B. S. Jeyaraj continuously writes on recent tides on Sri Lanka.

Could anyone enlighten me if there is any decent and fact found media watch in India?

I came across this news piece in BBC tamil service page. Like the tamilnadu fishermen's issue across the Palk Straight, smalltime travelling Indian businessmen's issue has also been neglected by the Indian High commission. While Indian government is worried about Indian oil companies in Sri Lanka, it simply neglects the individual businessmen, who are also indian citizens.

சேருவிலயிலே நேற்று பஸ்சிலே வைத்துச் சுடப்பட்ட குழந்தை ஒன்று.

உலகநாடு எதற்கும் அஞ்சாமல் இலங்கை அரசு விடுதலைப்புலிகள்மீது பழியைப் போடுகின்றது. இப்படியான குழந்தைகள் மீதான கொடூரங்கள் குறித்து, there should an international human watch investigation. We have seen a lot of noise from UN related agencies and human rights organizations accusing LTTE from child soldiers to instigating violence. However we have yet to see an international organisation to comment on these serial killings of underage kids. It does not matter who did it, but the killers should not go unpunished at least for humanity sake.

With such senseless lies, Media Centre for Sri Lankan National Secutiry makes Goebbels an Angel.


A family of four were hacked to death by the LTTE in Vankalai, Mannar around mid-night on Thursday, the Media Centre for National Security said on Friday.
The family was close to the security forces and had cooperated with them, defence sources have said.
Intelligence reports indicate this killing was ordered by the LTTE, defence affairs spokesman minister Keheliya Rambukwella, said.
He said this was part of the LTTE’s strategy to divert the attention of the international community from their unilateral withdrawal from the Oslo talks.
The army has denied all the charges and accusations made by the LTTE in connection with this killing.
Military spokesman Brigadier Prasad Samarasinghe told journalists that the killing was clearly the work of the LTTE.
Investigations seem to indicate that the Tigers were behind the massacre. The family had returned from India after living there as refugees and had recently refused to return to India, although they were ordered to do so by the LTTE.
The family was associated with the police and army personnel in the area, which could have angered the LTTE, defence sources aaid.
The father had been stabbed and hung in the living room, the children stabbed and hung in the front room and the mother had been raped and stabbed to death and left on the floor of the house.

பேச்சுவார்த்தையின் முட்டுக்கட்டைக்கு நோர்வே ஐரோப்பியக்கூட்டமைப்பினைக் குற்றம் சாட்டியிருக்கின்றது. தமிழீழவிடுதலைப்புலிகள் இயக்கம் ஐரோப்பியக்கூட்டமைப்போடு சாதுரியமாக நடந்து கொள்கிறது. முள்ளை முள்ளாலே எடுப்பது இந்த நடவடிக்கை.

To my understanding, this (non-)diplomatic approach by LTTE is commendable as it has pushed EU (including three Scantinavian countries other than Norway) monitors into a dilemma. EU can not play the role of judge while it passively back up one side in the court.

தென்னந்தோப்புகள் சூழந்த கடற்கரைக்கிராமங்களிலே வாழ்ந்தவர்களுக்குத் தெரியும். மாலைப்பொழுதிலே பெண்கள் ஊறப்போட்ட தென்னம்பொச்சிலிருந்து கயிறு திரிப்பார்கள். தென்னம்பொச்சு கையிருப்பில் இருக்கும்வரை கயிறு திரித்தல் நிகழும். முடிய புதுப்பொச்சு ஊறப்போடும்வரை கயிறு திரித்தலை அப்படியே நிறுத்தி வைப்பார்கள். இப்படியாகத்தான் இலங்கையின் சமாதானப்பேச்சுவார்த்தை நிலைமையும் இருக்கிறது.

தனிப்பட எனக்கு இன்று ஒரு கவலைக்குரிய நாள். தினம் தினம் மக்கள் இறக்கின்றார்கள். ஆயினும் வாழ்ந்த ஊர், தெரிந்த மக்கள் நெருக்கம் மிக்கவர்களாக இருக்கின்றார்கள். அவர்களுக்குத் துன்பம் நேரும் போது துயரம் மனதுக்கு மிகவும் நெருங்கி நொருக்குகிறது. குழந்தைகள் கொல்லப்படுவதும் பெண்கள் பாலியல்வன்முறைக்கு உட்படுத்தப்படுவதும் வலியை இரட்டிக்கிறன.

அவர்கள் இப்போது துயர்களைந்த உலகத்திலே இருப்பார்கள்.

I agree with you about the current situation and the problems that LTTE has to confront. however i beg to differ on why LTTE lost in the propaganda war when GOSL won. It is partially part of LTTE's lack of efficient representatives and propagandists in the west, and the rest is due to the mere "closed eye" politics of the west (read EU, Canada and USA).

I, you as well any other observer of srilankan politics know Kausalyan's assasination preceded Kadigamar's assasination, and Pararajasingam's assasination preceeded the assisasination attempt on Army top brass Fonseka. Yet, NO governernment on the west nor india gave the equivalent improtance to loss of both sides. there is a sort of supporting 'legitimate GOSL" from the west. If you look the history, even a single state NEVER supported a rebel organization unless the particular state gains something out of the rebellion for itself. The words, "democracy", "terrorism" and the pharses in the simliar line get spawned according to 'what is the best for us.' Hence, none can completely blame LTTE for the loss of propaganda war.

Yet, LTTE has a venue that it has not fully explored till this moment. identifying the interests of these countries or at least some of the powerful people in these countries and align themselves with their interests. This helps for LTTE. At least Thirumavalavan showed it as a good move, though his party lost in number of seats seats.

LTTE also wants to have a good propaganist firm to promote them in the west. AT least keep the western born spokepersons or prominent figures who can provide the children of the soil face in the west, like Vannessa Redgrave for Chechniyans, and Richard gere for Tibetians.

Canadian situation is a little complicated, as the current conservative premier buffon is more eager to mimic his god fearing gay hating conservative US counterfart for his consistuency rather than alligning with GOSL. In EU's recent actions what many did not notice in the hullabulla of banning LTTE is that tightening GOSL with withholding of funds that was already promissed.

In one way, when i look LTTE's survival in the past, I do not think LTTE will loose much finantially, as it may have alternative finantial resources or mode to flow and follow money into its strips.
